First ever Arts Summit officially opened

The Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga today officially opened the country’s first ever Arts Summit in Manzini.

The two-day summit is being hosted by the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture and is held at the Eswatini Electricity Company Auditorium in the Hub. The summit has brought together artists from all corners of Eswatini to share ideas on how the arts industry can be developed in the presence of well known South African artists including veteran music producer Don Laka and Skeem Saam Actress Dieketseng Mnisi (MaNtuli).

Making his remarks during the official opening earlier today, the Honourable Minister challenged artists to make good use of the platform.

“This is a very exciting time for the arts industry in our country as this summit provides us, as stakeholders, with an opportunity to come together, for the first time in this fashion, to share ideas on how we can take the industry to even greater heights. I would like to encourage all of you here to make it a point that our deliberations during the course of this summit provide swift interventions for the creative sector to take its rightful position within the competitive industries’ space and ensure striving and sustainable professions,” Bulunga said.

The summit will end tomorrow (Friday, 15 February 2019).
