The Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga joined over 100 participants during the first Shukuma event of the year on Saturday morning (23 February 2019).

The event was held at St. Boniface Primary School in Siteki under Lugongolweni Inkhundla and the Honourable Minister was joined by Principal Secretary in the Ministry Prince Mlayeto, Under Secretary Nhlanhla Motsa and Director of Sports Lucky Sihlongonyane.

The day’s activities started with a walk from St. Boniface Primary to Siteki town centre and back again. The participants then engaged in activities like rope skipping, children athletics, tug of war and aerobics.

“I was pleased to see the people of Lugongolweni Inkhundla come in their numbers to Shukuma with us. Shukuma is a very important programme under our portfolio and we hope that it will continue to grow from strength to strength,” Honourable Bulunga said.

Shukuma is the Eswatini National Sport and Recreational Council’s flagship programme which encourages mass participation in sport and physical activities for people of all ages and gender groups.
