01 March 2019

The Eswatini Tennis Association (ETA) yesterday (Thursday, 28 February 2019) paid a courtesy call to the Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga.

The ETA was represented by President Maxwell Jele who was in the company of Tapiwa Masunga who is the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Regional Development Officer for Southern Africa.

During the meeting, the ETA first congratulated Honorable Bulunga on his appointment into Cabinet and expressed their full confidence on him. ETA President Jele shared with the Honourable Minister some of their goals and objectives as an Association including the construction of the National Tennis Centre in Lobamba which will be officially opened on Saturday, 09 March 2019 by the Honourable Minister.

Jele further explained to the Honourable Minister that the new Tennis Centre would help address the issue of lack of facilities for tennis players in the country.

“I am pleased to have met the ETA President Mr. Jele as well as Tapiwa Masunga of the ITF. It is encouraging and exciting to hear of the progress they are making as an association. It is true that without infrastructure, our sport will find it difficult to make progress so we really appreciate the effort that the ETA has made in conjunction with the ITF and all their other partners,” the Honourable Minister said.
