Young Buffaloes crowned Ingwenyama Cup champs

Young Buffaloes were crowned champions of the fourth edition of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup after beating Mbabane Highlanders 4-1 at Somhlolo National Stadium yesterday (17 March 2019).

Buffaloes’ victory, in front of over ten thousand onlookers, was the climax of a hugely entertaining finals day at the National Stadium which was graced by His Majesty King Mswati III, members of the Royal family as well as former South African President Jacob Zuma.

The eagerly awaited final between the two sides had gone to halftime deadlocked at 1-all. However, Buffaloes were rampant in the second half, scoring three goals to seal victory and their first Ingwenyama Cup crown.

Earlier on in the day, participants battled it out under the five culture categories. Mkhuzweni were crowned Lacwebetelako champions for a third time running while Mabhamulane Dlamini was named the number one Imbongi. Mcengeni came out victorious in the Ingadla category while Lutsango from Bhekinkosi were champions in their category. Maphalaleni came out top in the Indlamu (sibhaca) category.
