The Hounarable Minister for Home Affairs Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe to leave Eswatini on Saturday 05 October 2019, for Switzerland (Geneva) where she will attend the 70th session of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner’s Programme (EXCOM).

The main purpose of the conference which begins from the 07th October 2019 and end 11th October 2019 is to review the High Commissioner’s Programme and look into other International concerns regarding refugees, displaced and stateless persons. The conference is an annual event and the officials through the head of the delegation, will be expected to give a report on the circumstances of asylum seekers and refugees at the conference as well as hold side meetings with the Africa Desk representative.

The event marks the mid-point of UNHCR’s # I Belong Campaign to End Statelessness by year 2024. Hence member states are expected to table voluntary pledges to take action to address statelessness in the remaining five years of the campaign. 

The Honourable Minister will be accompanied by Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Mr. Nhlanhla Nxumalo, Commissioner for Refugees Inkhosikati Thandi Dlamini and Miss Zanele Mlambo, focal Point on Statelessness. The delegation is expected to return on Sunday 13th October 2019.
