Following the adoption of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Regulations 2020 under Section 43 of the National Disaster Management Act 1 of 2006, Government hereby sets the price for hand sanitisers to an amount not exceeding E150 per litre.

                               

This is in terms of Section 18 sub-section 1 of the COVID-19 Regulations 2020 under Price Control; which states that ‘A firm shall not effect a price increase to the detriment of consumers.’ Therefore, any supplier found to be in contravention of these Regulations is liable to a fine as stipulated in the above mentioned Regulations.

The public will be advised on which outlets will be selling the hand sanitisers on Monday the 30th March 2020. All government institutions, including ministries, departments and security forces will get their supplies from the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and are, therefore, encouraged to formally submit their requests, beginning from Monday 30 March 2020, to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 24042777. The public and all sectors of the economy are encouraged to use sanitizers as one of the hygiene measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

 

May we appeal to the public to follow and abide by the measures that have been put in place for the partial lockdown which came into effect on Friday 27 March 2020. Irresponsible behavior by anyone will derail all efforts of containing the spread of the virus.
