Eswatini Railway once again became the biggest winners during the 2018 Eswatini National Quality Awards; scooping two major awards.

This was during the second Eswatini National Quality Awards held at Royal Swazi Spa Banqueting Hall on Friday November 9, 2018. Eswatini Railway won under the Organisation of the Year – Large Enterprise category as well as Service of the Year – Large Enterprise.

The glamourous event was graced by His Excellency the Right Honourable Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, Acting Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Hon. Jabulani Mabuza, Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hon. Harries Bulunga, Minister of Education and Training Hon. Lady Howard Mabuza and Head of EU Delegation in Eswatini Her Excellency Esmeralda Hernandez Aragones; amongst other notable dignitaries.

During the inaugural awards ceremony held in 2017, Eswatini Railway also emerged winners, and went on to represent the country during the SADC Quality Awards where they hoisted the country’s flag by winning the SADC Service of the Year category.

Speaking during the 2018 event, Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini said the Quality Awards provided “an essential platform for the recognition of organisations and individuals who have successfully implemented outstanding quality standards and quality management systems for their goods and services.”

Dlamini emphasized the importance of providing quality goods and services; saying these served as a catalyst for investment attraction and promotion.

“Investors are attracted to a society that has the capacity to provide efficient, high quality and affordable goods and services. Businesses also strive when they adopt processes and practises that produce high quality products for both their internal and external markets, mainly because they gain trust and customer loyalty,” he said.

He further congratulated all the companies that took part during the 2018 Eswatini National Quality Awards; encouraging them to continue developing and maintaining quality systems that will support the production of competitive goods and services for the local, regional and international markets.

Acting Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Jabulani Mabuza said the aim of the Awards was to encourage businesses; the public and the private sector to incorporate standards and quality requirements in the production and delivery of goods and services.

“It is also anticipated that the running of the competition will better position our local businesses to take advantage of new markets brought about by trade liberalisation not only in the SADC region but globally,” he said. Likewise, he congratulated winners of the 2018 Awards.
