Residents requested a bridge.


 

Minister of Public Works & Transport Pastor Lindiwe Dlamini, in her observation believes a total of 10 bridges need to be constructed in the areas under Sandleni constituency. This was during her tour of the constituency’s road infrastructure of the 22nd of February 2015. The Minister was in the company of senior officials including PS Makhosini Mndawe, Acting Chief Roads Engineer Vincent Dlamini, Roads Mantainence Engineer Linda Magagula, which were shown all the areas which needs urgent attention.

The Minister was in the company of MP Jameson Simelane. He explained to the Minister the poor state of the roads and lack of proper bridges, especially during the rainy season. Some residents highlighted that they were forced to travel long distances in order to make it the other side where they have access to services such as schools, hospitals, churches. The Minister expressed concern as his majesty vision is for all Swazis to have access to basic services which the residents highlighted. Dlamini further stated that were looking at the problem, as well as finding solutions to the roads and also promised that all the roads that were visited will be revamped as the year goes by, as per the ultimate vision of reaching world class by the year 2022.

“We are from inspecting road at KaGwegwe where we also met residents, as well as those from Nhletjeni, and as a result the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has recognized the need to refurbish these roads,” she said. “Going to school is becoming difficult to the residents at Velezizweni, we acknowledge this predicament and the ministry is in the process of revamping these roads,” she added.

The Minister pointed out that in all the areas she has toured, recognized similar problems to these roads which are regravelling and construction of bridges.
