TINKHUNDLA DEVELOPMENT DATA PLATFORM UNDERWAY

The Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development has started a collective-effort exercise with different development agencies to map, decode and store data in a platform which will enable easy accessibility.

Currently, there is no system in place to warehouse data so that it is easy and less costly to tell the development status of communities instantly because data is scattered all over in “silo” pockets.

The primary mandate of the Ministry is to coordinate and provide development support to regions, Tinkhundla and communities. Director of Decentralization in the Ministry Thulani Mkhaliphi, during a meeting for discussion by the different agencies held at Happy Valley Hotel, said the major requirement for effective coordination was easy access to data.

 Ministries and Development partners were invited to present on the format and type of data each had and further brainstormed how such development data might be shared and warehoused in a one stop “Tinkhundla Development Data” platform.

As an outcome of the workshop, a small technical committee comprising the under listed officers was elected to design the envisaged platform, collect data and report on the functionality of the “shared data platform”;

  1.  Mr. Thulani Mkhaliphi-(Chairperson) Director Decentralization-Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development
  2. Mr. Malangeni Gamedze-(Secretary) M&E Officer-Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development
