On Wednesday evening in a gift presentation ceremony held at Lozitha Royal Palace, His Majesty King Mswati III expressed his appreciation for cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Resource Mobilisation Committee, and other government ministries for staging a successful event. The King said the projected expenditure for the 51st birthday was E22 Million however, through cooperation between stakeholders the Resource Mobilisation Committee saved the country E8.6 million.

In the same occation, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ntombi Tfwala said she could not be left behind when the nation presents gifts to the King and presented a lounge room suit made of gold. The present was accompanied by a smart golden microphone presented by emazinyane. In her speech the Indlovukazi thanked the nation for good heart. She appreciated the gifts saying “We know of the country’s economic situation but still Emaswati contributed to make the day a success, and the gifts were almost the same as the prvious year”. She said this gifts will surely multiply next year.

While hundreds of Emaswati came to shower His Majesty with variety of gifts such as more than 160 cows, fruits and vegetables and cash. The chairman of the Resource Mobilisation Committee Dr Phil Mnisi presented a donations of both in cash and in kind worth E6.8million. While the sugar industry was the largest contributors – it contributed 1.3 million emalangeni, MTN Esatini 500 000.00, Royal Swazi Spa 364 000-00. the least was a lad who presented the King with E50.00.

In his speech the King and Ingwenyama expressed his appreciation for the gifts though the country’s economy is ailing and urged Emaswati not to stop the culture of giving. His Majesty concluded by requesting all Emaswati to support the 'End Malaria Fund' that will be launched later this month. The Kingdom of Eswatini has been asked by African states to push an agenda of mobilising suplementary resources to eliminate and support ongoing surveillance of malaria to prevent reintroduction.
