Service Soil fertility is the ability or the quality of a soil that enables it to provide chemical elements in quantities and proportions for plant growth. Soil fertility and plant nutrition, therefore, cannot be divorced from each other. Plant nutrition involves the study of chemical elements necessary for plant growth. Plants take up essential elements form the soil through their roots and air through their leaves. The Soil Fertility and Nutrition Service, therefore, ensure that information on plant nutrients, physical properties availability in the soil is availed to farmers in the country. It fulfils its mandate by conducting trials on fertilizers (both organic and inorganic) and plant nutrients as well as sampling soil and plant material from different parts of the Swaziland. At the end this section seeks to advice farmers on organic and inorganic fertilizers for different crops and different soils all over the country. Who can apply for the service
