Mandate
The mandate of the section is to promote poultry production in Swaziland with emphasis on Broiler Production, Egg Production and Indigenous Chickens.
 
Vision
The Poultry Section commits itself to provide quality extension service towards sustainable and diversified poultry industry.

Mission
Our mission is to provide quality extension service to communities and farmers and other stakeholders through effective extension service. This is done by delivering research based information to the target audience through workshops, and visitations to give skills and knowledge to improve the quality of their lives.

Staffing
The Poultry Section is presently staffed with nine (9) officers. One Senior Poultry Officer, who is the head of the section serving as a national co-coordinator for all poultry activities in the whole country. Seven (7) Poultry Extension Officers who are either in charge of a region or sub-region. Their core duty is  the provision technical know-how to farming communities and other extension agents in the form of consultations, meetings, courses, seminars, demonstrations etc. and one

1. Broiler Production

Broiler production is one of the largest animal production industries in the country and the primary source of income for smallholder farmers. The broiler production section provides extension services to the clientele (community members, Non Governmental Organizations and the business sector). Practical and useful knowledge based on the needs and interest of the clientele is disseminated to the people through workshops, meetings and individual visitations so that they can improve their production efficiency.  Much concentration to the broiler sector is done to promote the broiler industry in Swaziland so as to lessen the demand of imports from South Africa. The end resultant is to improve the quality of life for the people on the following sectors:

• To ensure food security.
• To alleviate poverty.
• To provide income generation.
• To drive towards self-sufficiency in poultry and poultry products.

2. Egg Prduction

Egg production is one of the largest animal production industries in the country and the primary source of income for smallholder farmers. The broiler production section provides extension services to the clientele (community members, Non Governmental Organizations and the business sector). Practical and useful knowledge based on the needs and interest of the clientele is disseminated to the people through workshops, meetings and individual visitations so that they can improve their production efficiency.  Much concentration to the egg production sector is done to promote the egg production industry in Swaziland so as to lessen the demand of imports from South Africa. 3. Indigenous Poultry Production

Indigenous poultry production is a fast growing animal production industries in the country. This section production section provides extension services to the clientele (community members, Non Governmental Organizations and the business sector). Practical and useful knowledge based on the needs and interest of the clientele is disseminated to the people through workshops, meetings and individual visitations so that they can improve their production efficiency.  Much concentration to the indigenous chickens sector is done to promote the indigenous chickens industry in Swaziland so as to lessen the demand of imports from South Africa. The end resultant is to improve the quality of life for the people on the following sectors:

• To ensure food security.
• To alleviate poverty.
• To provide income generation.
• To drive towards self-sufficiency in poultry and poultry products.

• Farmers on Swazi Nation Land or Title Deed Land.
• Communities
• Individuals
• Organized Groups

When can one apply for the services

Anytime of the year as the need arises

How many services can one apply for

The individual can apply for either one or all of the services at once

How to obtain the service

• Farmers must present themselves in person by coming to the offices in the various regions of the country
• Farmers or community members may also attend the meetings or workshops organized by the extension officers.
