Mission Statement

To ensure that the misuse of government vehicles and plant is curbed at all times to the satisfaction of government so that losses are minimized.

Background

The Inspectorate Division (Anti-Abuse Unit) was established in 1991 to curb the misuse of government vehicles and plant. The misuse of government vehicles and plant being defined as ‘ using a government vehicle or plant without a proper authority, signed by an authorised person, for a purpose which was not meant and lastly carelessness including failure to service a vehicle on time and reckless driving.

Objectives of the Unit

The objective of the Inspectorate Division is to curb the misuse of government vehicles or plant in an effort to minimise financial loss to government.

Functions

The function of the Inspectorate Division is to carry out spot checks on government vehicles and also hold roadblocks together with the police, to look out for the following:

a) The use of vehicle log books

b) Valid driver’s authority

c) Authority for travel/journey

d) Maintenance of records of evidence against misusers of government transport

e) Follow up of misuse as reported by the public

f) Report on accidents of government vehicles in liaison with authorising officers, CTA and Royal Swaziland Police(RSP) . (Cooperate with RSP, Treasury, Audit, Justice etc.)
