The Minister of Public Works & Transport Pastor Lindiwe Dlamini with Nkwene MP Sikhumbuzo Dlamini and Senior Officials from the Ministry toured the constituency’s roads that needed urgent attention. The tour took place on the August 7, 2014.

Among the areas the Minister toured were roads leading to some of the local schools such as Mandulo Primary and High Schools, Thululwazi Primary, Nkwene Primary and High School, Mehlwabovu main road and Sigcineni.

The Minister addressed the media after the tour that the exercise was in line with the Ministry’s programme to rehabilitate road infrastructure around the country which will also accommodate even roads under Nkwene Inkhundla. Dlamini further noted that the constituency was faced with a lot of challenges in as far as road maintenance was concerned as some areas homestead were located distances away from the public roads. She added that the situation was shocking as families have to see how they transport sick relatives to hospital and difficulties in fetching relatives for burial due to the state of the roads.

The Minister further said it was in government’s plan that all public institutions especially those providing various services should be easily accessed. She said it was therefore the Ministry’s responsibility that roads leading to these institutions were also properly maintained. “We have been tasked by the country’s Leaders to ensure that institutions such as health centres are accessible. It is what we are doing as part of vision 2022” said Minister Dlamini.
