The Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini says Eswatini will reach the AIDS free target by 2022 by maximizing the rate of HIV testing, with all those with HIV being on Anti RetroviralTreatmentand adhering to a strict routine with their medication.

He noted that the country has 170,000 out of 200,000 people with HIV, alive and on treatment and new infections have dropped by 44% since 2014.

The Prime Minister’s speech was presented on his behalf by the Deputy Prime Minister Senator Paul Dlamini at the launch of the NERCHA Strategic Plan on Wednesday.

His Majesty King Mswati III has reiterated the Kingdom of Eswatini’s commitment to end AIDS by 2022, eight years earlier than the United Nations global deadline of 2030.

The King says the recent HIV incidence measurement survey which shows a remarkable decline of new HIV infections demonstrates good strides towards achieving the national target.

His Majesty was speaking when officially opening of the new Central Medical Stores storeroom in Matsapha.
