The Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini has lauded Police for their commitment toboosting the security ofthe business sector saying this is important in enhancing the enterprise-friendliness of our economy and encouraging new investment and faster economic growth.

 

He was speaking when opening the end of year conference for senior police officers held at the Police Academy in Matsapha.

The Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini says it is important for all Swazis to appreciate and understand messages promoting e-Government services as they  contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of our country.

He says to ensure the nature of e-Government is understood by all, an easily recognizable and comprehensible Siswati name and slogan, or catch-phrase is vital.He was speaking when launching the e-Government SiSwati competition and slogan at the Cabinet  Offices in Mbabane.

The Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini says though the Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) has improved efficiency and tax revenue has increased substantially, it remains true that there is still a great deal of tax evasion in the country.

He says the country''s low tax-to-GDP ratio provides a fairly strong hint in this regard.The Prime Minister was speaking when he submitted his annual tax return to SRA .His speech was read on his behalf by the Deputy Prime Minister Senator Paul Dlamini.

The national population has recorded an increase of 0.7 % over the past ten years to reach 1,093,238 individualscompared with a 0.9% increase in the previous ten year period 1997-2007.

Figures released today by the Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini show that in the over 65 years age group the 2017 Census shows an increase from 3.7% of the population in 2007, to 4.5% in 2017.

Although this does not reflect a big variation from the previous census it does indicate improved socio-economic conditions for “our people, giving rise to longer lives.”

The Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini says Swaziland is determined to make her business environment reach levels that are unmatched through the provision of a first class service to the business sector.

As a result, Government recently submitted to Parliament draft legislation that provides unbeatable tax concessions in two special enterprise zones.

The Prime Minister was speaking when closing the International Trade Fair 2017 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre in Manzini.
