In a press briefing held at the Royal Swazi Spa, Minister of Home Affairs Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe appoints a committee of 13 people to cater for the fundraising of His Majesty King Mswati III 51st birthday celebration. The appointment came when the Kingdom of Eswatini continues to experience financial constrain.

According to the Minister the team is tasked with consolidating resources for his majesty’s 51st birthday celebration. She emphasized that King’s birthday is the responsibility of all Emaswati because it promotes unity, goodwill, peace and foster mutual respect and cooperation between Emaswati and neighbouring member states as well as boost revenue through tourism sector and other businesses. The appointed members of the Resource Mobilization team include:

Princess Lindiwe further announced the 26th of April 2019 as the official date for the celebration of the King’s 51st Birthday which will be held in the Northern Hhohho region at Buhleni Royal Residence. She said the postponement from 19th April is forced by the clatter with celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Over and above she unveiled logo for the birthday with theme, “VUKA NGWANE SAKHE UMNOTFO”, and advised business and individuals to use it sparingly for the sole purpose of the 51st birthday. The minister pronounced that the Logo will be availed to anyone through formal request from the ministry of home affairs.

The appointed chairman Dr Phil Mnisi speaking after the announcement thanked the Minister and His majesty’s Government for entrusting them with the assignment of coordinating national support towards the 51st birthday. He stated that appeals for contributions from business across the country. Mnisi said participation could be through three methods:

  1. Financial contributions
  2. Donations in kind
  3. Sponsorship of certain items of the event

Individuals willing to make contributions and donations can contact the secretariat of the committee on +268 7650 5151 or +268 2411 7605 to register their pledge. Contributions are classified according to financial value and will carry a deserving recognition during the event:

Platinum – E500 000.00 and above

Gold – E250 000 .00 – E499 999.00

Silver – E100 000.00 – E249 999.00

Bronze – E50 000.00 – E100 000.00

Dr Mnisi announced that financial contributions can be directly deposited into a dedicated Government bank account which holds monies specifically for hosting the celebration. Details of the account are as follows:
