Minister for Home Affairs Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with her South Africa counterpart, Dr Pakishe Aaron Motsoaled on Monday, 12 August 2019 at the Oshoek border post. The two are scheduled to continue discussing immigration issues affecting the two countries.

In the last meeting between the two countries back in April 2019, the main issues discussed were the re-establishment of formal dialogue mechanisms between the two countries, the extension of operating hours of the Oshoek/Ngwenya Border Post to 24 hours as well as the issue of Overstayers, or people who are in either country for a period longer than the time granted on entry more especially those staying on medical conditions. The Ministers agreed on re-establishing formal dialogue mechanism on quarterly basis to ensue continuation of pending issues and addressing emerging concerns.

Princess Lindiwe’s will be accompanied by her colleague at cabinet, the Minister of Labour and Social Security Hon. Makhosi Vilakati and top government officials from Home Affairs and Labour.

Following the discussions, the Ministers will proceed to tour the Ngwenya/Oshoek Port of Entry to familiarize themselves with the movement of travellers and goods between the two countries.
