The King and Ingwenyama of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Mswati III leading the nation, Diplomatic corps and tourists during the song and dance of the 2019 main Incwala Ceremony held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence Cattle Byre yesterday afternoon.

The song and dance of Incwala started at 1500hrs when the Emabutfo trumpet signal the start of the dance. Immediately, members of the Royal Family, Emaswati, tourists and Diplomatic corps cramped the cattle byre all dressed in traditional regalia.While emabutfo were dancing inside the Cattle byre His Majesty arrived and a National Anthem was played before he proceeded to inspect the guard of honor.

After the guard of honour, the national anthem was again played by the royal band and was followed by a march into the cattle byre where the Ingwenayama inspected the Emabutfo Regiment. Subsequently exchanged pleasantries with diplomats before joining in dance.

DSC05299 DSC05302Indeed it was a colorful ceremony as Emaswati were seen jovial as they sing and dance. Among notable were top Government officials’ namely; Minister for Home Affairs HRH Princess Lindiwe dancing with other royal Family members, the Prime Minister Mr. Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, Minister for public works and transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Madze Bulunga, members of parliament and many more.

Incwala began three weeks ago with the Little Incwala which was danced in all regions of the Kingdom. Subsiquently, the King commissioned over 60 000 Ingatja (young boys) regiment to go cut the sacred shrub (Lusekwane) at Masudwini, Esikhaleni seLusekwane. His Majesty and Emabutfo joined Ingatja in the 18 kilometres journey to Masundwini and back. Upone return the next morning and in a jovial mood, the Ingatja regiment danced in front of the King and delivered the sacred shrub.

Indeed Incwala is one of the most celebrated traditional ceremonies in the Kingdom of Eswatini that has lasted hundreds of years. The main Incwala ceremony signify the birth of a King and is much respected and honoured by Emaswati. This was withnessed by the thousands of participants from all corners of the Kingdom and abroad.
