E1.2 MILLION COMPUTER LAB FOR EMTHONJENI HIGH SCHOOL

Today is, indeed, a happy day for our company and I feel greatly privileged and honoured to be standing in front of you. Swaziland Electricity Company (sec) is pleased to have partnered with Motraco in financing the construction of such an essential facility at this immaculate school. This remarks were made by the Chairman of the SEC Board of Directors  Sthofeni Ginindza during the official hand over of a computer laboratory at Emthonjeni High School on the 29th of June, 2018. Speaking through  Lindiwe Dlamini who is also a board member,  Ginindza said  SEC together with Motraco, have spent a whopping E1.2 million constructing the Emthonjeni high school’s computer lab. “What makes this project special is that it is the first of its kind for our company. Since 1963 when sec was established we have made countless donations to different organisations, mostly schools, but we never thought of building a computer lab,” he said. READ ARTICLE...


SADC MINISTERIAL MEETING FOR ENERGY AND WATER, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, 22ND – 27TH JUNE, 2018.

Honourable Minister for Natural Resources and Energy attended the 37th SADC Joint Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Energy and Water, which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from the 22nd - 27th June, 2018.

The purpose of this Joint Meeting was to facilitate, coordinate and achieve availability of sufficient, reliable, least cost energy services that will assist in the attainment of economic growth, and the eradication of poverty whilst ensuring the environmentally sustainable use of energy resources in the SADC Region to achieve Industrialisation, and to review the status of energy and water issues in the region......READ THE ARTICLE


THE 1ST SADC CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY (SACREE) STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING, 22ND JUNE, 2018, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA.

The 1st SACREEE Steering Committee (SC) took place on 22nd June 2018, at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. It was held subsequent to the Senior Officials Water and Energy Ministers Meeting.

The meeting was attended by Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, forming a quorum. The Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles did not attend. Minerals remain at the centre of human development

The Minister of Natural Resources and Energy took time from her busy schedule to tour Maloma Colliery a coal mine in the Lubombo region, the purpose of the tour was to witness strides made by the company while carrying out its mandate.  The Minister said minerals remain at the centre of human development and have the potential to positively shape and affect economies directly and indirectly. “I am pleased to note that Maloma operations are a living testimony that minerals endowment is a true blessing to any nation,” the Minister alluded. Energy Department seeks to be accredited to both the ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 management systems.

The Department of Energy Inspection Unit held a Quality Management System workshop from the 14th-18th May, 2018, at the Royal Villas at Zulwini to review and approve drafted documents for both the Fuel Inspection and the Fuel Testing Laboratory’s Quality Management Systems. and the whole purpose was to review and approve drafted documents in preparation for the implementation of both quality management systems on the General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration standard (ISO 17025) and on the General Requirements for the Operation of various types of bodies performing inspections (ISO 17020). ALL CITIZENS OF ESWATINI TO HAVE ACCESS TO MODERN ENERGY SOLUTIONS BY 2022

The Ministry of Natural Recources and Energy has officially launched the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Swaziland (LPGSASWA). Speaking at the official launch at Mountain inn Hotel, Minister Jabulile Mashwama said it was the Ministry’s goal that by 2022 all citizens of Eswatini have access to modern energy solutions to enhance sustainable economic development and improve the quality of life, in line with the nation’s vision and development agenda.
“Increasing the use of liquefied petroleum gas is therefore one of the pathways of ensuring that the country meets its global and local commitments,” she said. read article

Eswatini to attain 100% water and sanitation coverage

"Today we are gathered in this wonderful venue to share ideas on how to ‘Strengthen the Enabling Environment for Achieving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sustainable Goals’. Studies indicate that almost 2.5 billion people are without adequate sanitation facilities and about 663 million people lack access to an improved source of drinking water".Speaking at the Royal Swazi conference center, Minister for Natural Resources and Energy Senator Jabulile Mashwama shared this statistics during the official opening of the inter-country enabling environment capacity building workshop on accelerating access to basic sanitation, water and hygiene.

Minister Mashwama warmly welcomed the delegates attending the workshop at Ezulwini, “It is my singular honour and privilege to deliver these remarks on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and indeed on my own behalf,” she said. May I take this opportunity to welcome all our visiting delegates from the Kingdom of Lesotho, The Republic of Namibia and the Comoros and hope that you have enjoyed the Eswatini hospitality since your arrival in our beautiful country. We always believe that Eswatini is your second home away from home, Mashwama said.

Minister Mashwama outlined the important role played by Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) in the provision of potable water and Sanitation to the people. “SWA is a global multistakeholder partnership which catalyzes political leadership and improve accountability to achieve a sustainable vision of sanitation, water and hygiene for all,” she said. The Sanitation and Water for All provides a transparent, accountable and results-oriented framework for action based on a common vision, values and principles, she added.

UNICEF Representative Dr Alice Akungu making her remarks on behalf of UNICEF, said she sincerely appreciated the Government of Eswatini for accepting to host this very important meeting. The commitment shown by the Government through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy and the Ministry of Health to spearhead the Sanitation and Water for All initiative in Eswatini, is highly valued, she said. Dr Akungu said the presence of the three key Ministries from Finance, Natural Resources and Energy and Health is a testament of the Government of Eswatini’s commitment to attain Sanitation and Water for All – in line with the SDG targets and indicators, the importance given in this area is also evident as outlined in His Majesty the King’s vision 2022, and the Ministries’ plans in the country’s efforts to attain Sanitation and Water for ALL in Eswatini, she said.

out a number of successes in the Komati Basin Water Authority (KOBWA) Project,

especially at a time when they celebrate a great milestone in its existence.
