MINISTER OF ICT HON. SAVANNAH MAZIYA HONOURED AT THE PRESTIGIOUS ANNUAL PREDECESSORS’ AWARDS 2025 – AFRICA EDITION

The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) is pleased to announce that Hon. Savannah Maziya, Minister of ICT, has been honoured with the Leadership Category Award at the Prestigious Annual Predecessors Awards 2025 – Africa Edition, held on 6 December 2025 at The Revival City, Midrand, Johannesburg.

The Predecessors’ Awards is a globally celebrated initiative aimed at recognising individuals who have made significant, transformational, and often under-recognised contributions across various sectors. Held across multiple continents, the Awards are dedicated to acknowledging “heroes around the world who have not been duly honoured.” Its mission is to shine a spotlight on impactful individuals whose service to humanity, leadership, and innovation continue to shape nations and uplift communities.

This year’s Africa Edition is convened by Relevant Achievers Impacting Nations in collaboration with The World Conference of Mayors, Inc., founded by H.E. Johnny L. Ford, the first Black Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama. Past honourees across global editions includes, the former President of Ghana - Mr. K. Addo-Kufuor and former Prime Minister of Eswatini Mr. A.T. Dlamini and other influential leaders, community builders, innovators, philanthropists, and public servants who have demonstrated exceptional impact in their fields.

 Minister when receiving the award, expressed her appreciation for the recognition:
“I am very honoured to receive this award and thank those who conferred it. It is ever so encouraging to be recognised for the work one engages in by promoting STEM for women in Eswatini and globally and to understand that people around the world appreciate one’s efforts. We as Eswatini are part of a big world - we must contribute to it, whilst developing our own. His Majesty the King speaks continually about us taking our place in the world and working towards being a first world country. This kind of honour makes one feel proud to playing however small a role, to contribute to that future. I am thankful and remain humbled”. 


Hon. Savannah Maziya has distinguished herself as a continental and global advocate for STEM advancement and the empowerment of young women in ICTs.  She is the founder and champion of the STEM Future Pioneers Mentorship Program, a national initiative that mentors hundreds of girls, particularly those from rural, underserved, and differently abled communities.
Globally, Minister Maziya has been instrumental in promoting women’s participation in STEM through international collaborations. She continues to mentor and advocate for young women across Africa and beyond, leveraging global platforms to open pathways for their advancement in science, innovation, and digital entrepreneurship.
Her philanthropic work reflects her commitment to purpose-driven leadership, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that opportunities in STEM and ICT uplift those who need them most. These contributions have made her a respected figure in the global STEM community and underscore the significance of her recognition at the Prestigious Annual Predecessors Awards 2025. Minister Savannah Maziya serves as the Co-Chair of the Global Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) Council on Gender Equality, a leadership role that positions her at the forefront of global efforts to advance women’s empowerment and achieve gender equality worldwide.

In 2025, the Minister received several prestigious recognitions for her profound leadership in ICT development, STEM advancement, and public service excellence. She was honoured with the Visionary Leadership in Transforming ICT & STEM Education Award by Space Kidz India for her outstanding efforts in expanding ICT access, empowering women and young people in STEM, and creating new pathways for girls in ICT. She also earned the Outstanding Record Breaker Award at the Eswatini Customer Service Excellence Awards, acknowledging her transformative leadership in digitising government services and promoting people-centred service delivery.As Guest of Honour at the Service Excellence Awards, she also received the Guest-of-Honour Award of Excellence for championing dignity-driven public service and elevating national service standards. 
Under her strategic direction, the Ministry further achieved Innovation of the Year and Government Ministry of the Year for the groundbreaking Government in Your Hand initiative, reflecting her commitment to accessible, citizen-centric digital transformation. Further cementing her influence in advancing women’s empowerment, the Minister received the BlueSheroes Award 2025, from Standard Bank, celebrating her leadership, resilience, and exceptional contributions to the advancement of women in the ICT and digital innovation sectors.

The Predecessors Awards honour changemakers whose contributions have significantly influenced nations and communities but may not always be publicly celebrated. Every year, the Awards travel across continents to recognise individuals in categories such as leadership, innovation, humanitarianism, education, social impact, and governance. Through this initiative, the Awards preserve legacies, elevate unsung heroes, and inspire future generations of leaders to serve with integrity and impact.
