TERMINATION OF LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN SNTC AND LOMCO

In September 2007, the SNTC entered into a contract with LOMCO (Pty) Ltd wherein Mantenga Nature Reserve and Cultural Village, was leased to LOMCO.

This contract was, however terminated with effect from 30th April 2012 due to some challenges, hence both parties agreed to terminate the agreement on the 11th April 2012 which was made an order of the High Court on 12th April 2012.

EMPLOYEE WELFARE

His Majesty’s Government is very concerned about the welfare and fate of the 37 (ex-) LOMCO employees who are, in one way or the other, affected as a result of the termination of the agreement.

Subsequently, the Ministry and SNTC engaged the Labour Commissioner’s office which has been addressing the matter and continues to pursue it.

The SNTC has taken over operations of Mantenga Nature Reserve and Cultural Village effective from the 1st May 2012.

The transition from LOMCO to SNTC operations has been and continues to be smooth and all operations are being executed as normal. As the SNTC takes over there is a drive to uplift the cultural experience to ensure that the tourists continuously enjoy performances that depict authentic Swazi Culture.

Despite the challenging economic situation in the country, strategies have been put in place to ensure sustainability and the integrity of the facility.
