GOVERNMENT PRESS STATEMENT

Following the recent storm, Government wishes to report that two regions were affected, namely the Shiselweni and Lubombo regions.

In the Lubombo region, the following areas were affected

1.Mampempeni

2.Malindza

3.KaNdzangu

4.Matsetsa

5.Mdumezulu

In the Shiselweni region, affected areas are

1.Ngwabi

2.Maqhobeni

3.Nsongweni

4.Nkoneni

5.Makhonza

6.Mtsambama

7.Qinisweni

His Majesty’s Government, through the department responsible for disaster issues under the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office the National Disaster Management Agency with its partners namely Red Cross and World Vision has gone to these areas to assess damage and provide emergency relief. This is in the form of tents and other necessities to the storm victims. The National Disaster Management Agency is distributing food parcels to the affected families in the Lubombo region. In the Shiselweni region, distribution of roofing material has started in the Mtsambama area.
