Remarks by the Hon Minister of Health: Senator Sibongile Ndlela – Simelane at the Donation of Hospital equipment and furniture.

Good afternoon

 

It is a great honor and pleasure for me to make be here today receiving a great gift from the Republic of China on Taiwan.

Your Excellency, this is yet another milestone that shows the close and cordial relations we have with your great country. We continue to benefit from the partnership we have with the institutions in your country.

In the health sector we have a great partnership that has helped us to improve our health outcomes through a number of ways since the establishment of the Taiwan Medical Mission. The mission is strategically located at the Mbabane government hospital which makes their support relevant, practical and always responding to the needs of our clients. I would like to sincerely thank the team at the mission, under the leadership of Dr Tu. Their contribution and impact on the health care delivery is felt and greatly appreciated.

Your Excellency

In the context of moving towards the national 2022 vision, health is highlighted as both an indicator as well as a determinant of development. This is a great assignment to us as a sector, hence we have engaged in a robust strategic planning process that will enable us to contribute to the achievement of His Majesty’s vision.

In this regard we have identified that as a sector, we need to invest in strengthening the Health system. This includes among other things provision of equipment, furniture, commodities etc to facilitate provision of quality health care services. We are therefore very grateful as the Ministry of Health to receive such a donation because it is contributing to the strengthening of the health system. The environment where our patients are hospitalized will be improved from this donation. The beds will go to Mbabane and Hlatikulu government hospitals and when you visit these facilities, Your Excellency you will find them in good use.

Let me conclude by pledging our commitment as the Ministry that this equipment will indeed be used effectively and will be looked after. I am receiving the donation from His Excellency Ambassador Chen, I now officially pass it on to the two health facilities. The management is to take these items and fit them where there are gaps and I do not want to find them in the storerooms but must be in good use.
