Irrigation engineering is that part of Land Use Planning where siting, designing and installation of irrigation infrastructure is done. This activity would include harnessing water from running streams and channelling them to a designated area earmarked for irrigation infrastructure development. This is achieved by carrying out topographic surveys, designing the profiles where the piping or canal will be installed and installation of the materias.

There are three Officer catagories who work closely in achieving this goals. These are the Irrigation Officers. the Design Engineers and the Construction Engineers.
