To provide free and equitable access to library services, preserve and promote universal access to a broad range of human knowledge, experience, information and ideas in a welcoming and supportive environment, and the use of new technologies that extend access to global information beyond library walls.

Vision
To be a leader in the provision of an effective library documentation and information services in order to inspire the spirit of exploration, the joy of reading and the pursuit of knowledge (for people of all ages and background).

Objectives

  • To collect and preserve library collections in their varying formats for posterity
  • To promote life- long learning
  • To develop information centres at Tinkhundla Centres
  • To develop information communication technology (ICT) infrastructure for improved information collection, organization and dissemination
  • To develop school libraries
  • To empower the Swazi population with information and knowledge e.g. for skills development to eradicate unemployment and poverty in the country
  • Supporting culture and oral tradition
  • To create and strengthen reading habits in children from an early age
  • To stimulate the imagination and creativity of children and young adults as well as to foster links with school libraries
